The working process

Freeze the chapter set
Copy approved chapters into a clean build folder. Remove notes and superseded drafts so the conversion cannot accidentally include them.

Encode order in the filenames
Use zero-padded names such as 01-title, 02-introduction, and 03-chapter-one. Combined output follows filename order, so ordering should be visible before the app opens.

Prepare chapter illustrations
When a chapter needs a matching image, give the image and Markdown file the same base name and decide whether it belongs before or after the text, inline or on its own page.

Set one book page system
In Batch Text to PDF, choose the required preset or exact custom dimensions, margins, and page-number setting. Use the same system for the complete manuscript.

Create the combined document
Run combined mode and review converted, skipped, renamed, and failed items. If separately produced front matter or appendices must be added later, order those PDFs explicitly and combine them with Batch Merge PDFs.

Proof the document as a book
Check the title page, every chapter opening, image pairing, multilingual text, emoji, page-number continuity, blank pages, final page, and the printer or delivery specification.

Practical limitation
Automated conversion cannot make editorial decisions or reproduce an arbitrary desktop-publishing layout. DOCX styling is not preserved, and print production still requires printer-specific proofing.
