Prepare the inputs before opening the apps
- Approved clean-master PDFs
- Exact watermark text and/or a PNG or JPEG logo
- Placement, opacity, and page-range rules
- A separate watermarked-output folder
step_by_step
The working process
-
1
Define what the mark communicates
Choose concise ownership, distribution, or status wording. Confirm the logo source and avoid using a watermark as a substitute for a legal notice that must remain fully readable.
-
2
Protect the clean masters
Keep the approved PDFs unchanged and route marked copies to another folder. A reusable workflow depends on always being able to return to the clean source.
-
3
Design one reusable mark
Choose Text, PNG/JPEG Image, or Combined in Batch Watermark PDF. Set opacity, rotation, scale, placement, edge margin, or tiling for the complete document set.
-
4
Target pages and layer deliberately
Use `all` or an exact range such as `1,3-5`. Use Above content for dependable visibility; use Below content only after confirming page backgrounds do not hide it.
-
5
Compare representative pages
Review portrait, landscape, rotated, cropped, and mixed-size pages in Original, Watermarked, and Split views. Check forms, links, and important page content.
-
6
Run and audit the batch
Create validated output copies, investigate skips and failures, then open a distributed sample to verify mark consistency and retained interactivity.

Review before you call it finished
- Is the mark readable without obscuring essential content?
- Are only the intended pages marked?
- Do rotation and mixed page sizes place it correctly?
- Are clean masters separate and links/forms still functional?

Limits and privacy
Practical limitation
A visible watermark communicates status or ownership but does not prevent screenshots, printing, editing, or deliberate removal. It is not encryption or DRM.
Privacy boundary
PDFs, text, and watermark image files remain local. The app creates separate validated copies without a document upload.

Questions worth answering
Does watermarking flatten the PDF?
The normal workflow adds reusable resources and content streams while preserving the existing document model.
Can I use SVG logos?
Not in version 1.0. Use a correctly sized transparent PNG or a JPEG; SVG support is deferred.
