The working process

Calculate the target
Start from the printer’s current specification and physical dimensions. DPI metadata alone does not create detail; pixel dimensions are what determine available image data.

Select before enhancing
Do not upscale an entire generation folder. Remove weak, duplicate, and defective images first so time is spent only on genuine candidates.

Choose a controlled scale
Use Batch Enhance Image with the smallest scale that reaches the target. Stronger enlargement can make existing defects more obvious.

Inspect at full resolution
Check faces, hands, lettering, fine edges, textures, and smooth gradients. Compare the output to the source and reject files that become artificial or over-sharpened.

Order a representative proof
Print one or more difficult images at the actual size. Check crop, sharpness, colour, and viewing distance before committing to a complete run.

Practical limitation
Enhancement can enlarge and improve presentation, but it cannot recover detail that was never present or fix bad anatomy, composition, or heavy compression.

Questions worth answering
Is setting 300 DPI enough?
No. The image also needs enough pixels for the physical dimensions. DPI metadata without sufficient pixel dimensions does not add real detail.
